I’m Not a Doctor, But I Play One on TV

“Like the old joke goes, President Obama isn’t a doctor, but he plays one on TV — giving Americans a discomforting glimpse of life under ObamaCare, with government leaders and bureaucrats dispensing medical opinions that are better left to doctors, medical professionals, and patients,” said House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH). “This is a lighthearted video, but it underscores a serious point that Congressional Democrats are going to hear throughout August as they travel outside of Washington: Americans want lower health care costs not a trillion-dollar government takeover of health care that increases costs and lets Washington bureaucrats make decisions that should be made by doctors and patients.”

The House GOP Health Care Solutions Group has crafted a health care reform plan that will address rising health care costs and expand health care access and quality at a price our country can afford. To read about this better solution, go to http://blunt.house.gov/Read.aspx?ID=1140 . President Obama and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) should scrap their plan for a government-run health care system and start over, and work with Republicans for real health care reforms that will make a positive difference for all Americans.

    @Iregretmostofmyposts With regards to Greece, I admire them, I really do. Greek people are protesting and saying that they aren’t going to let ordinary hard workers take the fall for the crisis they didn’t cause. Americans shouldn’t look down at the Greeks, they should look at themselves and see the pathetic sheep they’ve become. Lapdogs to the markets, who’ve placed all their faith in a financial system designed to screw them over.

    @Iregretmostofmyposts Fake argument? lol Most Americans don’t have a problem with helping people? Well then why do you have higher poverty than the rest of the devleoped world, why is 95% of the wealth opened by a tiny percentage of the population, why are people dieing from lack of healthcare insurance? And apparently ye don’t have a problem being suckered because you’ve spent the last 30 years being completely suckered, starting with Reagen!

    @connectionpilot86 I agree, and while I feel bad for your father, this is like car insurance. Can I wreck my car and then get the insurance and demand they pay for a repair?

    @TheAntiSpinView Why is it unfair that the “private elites” do it, but completely fair that government elites do? You are on the right side of a fake argument designed for you to fight. Most Americans don’t have a problem with helping people, they have a problem with being suckered. Why don’t you look into the real negative effects that entitlements have on society (ie. Greece) and come back to argue when you’ve got both feet on the ground.

    @remedy916nos: Yes, it’s fair. Because you’re a human and those who can’t pay are human also. Think about it. If you end up, say, without money: you would want someone to help you, right? Well, why should they? It’s not their problem you lost all your money.

    @connectionpilot86 I’m sure your founding fathers would be proud to see chronically ill children, disabled people and people who don’t have enough money (through no fault of their own most of the time) being denied healthcare. I can see them standing there clapping when a father is forced to sell his home to pay for his child’s critical healthcare. I’m sure they’d be smiling seeing the citizens of America stand by and let their fellow Americans fall prey to an unfair system.

    @1969LEO1969 very few evidently lol as the figures show richer people getting richer and poorer people getting poorer. And if you want to be an entrepreneur… it requires a good education… what does this require? Capital. You need start up funds – i.e capital. You need land – i.e capital. Who controls the capital? A select number of private elites, who will sponge off your hard work and take extortionate chunks of profit from it. It is simply not fair.

    @TheAntiSpinView ha ha ha… a true entreprenuer will find a way. There are constantly people who come from nothing make themselves wealthy. This holds true even today. That IS what happens in the real world.

    @garzj019 Agreed. America is the only developed nation in the world that has decided that such a large proportion of its citizens should be left without adequate healthcare coverage.

    In a true society with actual values and not just rhetoric, healthcare and education are a fundamental right, not some privelage for those who can afford it.

    @1969LEO1969 no …
    @1969LEO1969 no they don’t, if you believe everyone has an equal opportunity then you live a sheltered lifestyle or just ignore the facts. The fact is, capitalism favors those who already HAVE capital. THEY get the opportunities you talk about. I love the idea that “get a job” in a climate with 10% unemployment is the solution. Please wake up and start examining what actually happens in the real world.

And those mexicano can waltz across the border, steal job, shoot himself with a nail gun, then gets all patched up for free, I’m sorry at my expense. It’s soooo hard! Give me a break you layabout

    Yess!!! Go get a job you laze ingrate. I bet if you put as much effort into looking for work as you do figuring out how to raise your welfare entitlements you could get one. I’m sick of carrying the weigh of these worthless people on my back.

    @kubush The CBO only rates the information it is given. If you went to the bank to get a loan and the bank could only rate the information you gave them, you could make your financial situation look a lot different than reality. If the bank was unable to discover that you were just taking money from your left hand and putting it into your right hand and claiming that this somehow reduced the amount of bills you had to pay.
