Now I gotta say I don’t much care for the term ‘code monkeys’ either cause you guys are certainly better than that but ninjas? C’mon isn’t that a little too much. I couldn’t help but laugh at the idea especially when I was in a conversation with a tech support guy from Rackspace Cloud and his ticket signature read "Rackspace Cloud Support Ninja". Yet, he didn’t really help me and just gave me link to sites that I had already researched for troubleshooting.

I think the term ‘Ninja’ should be reserved for guys like "Richard Stallman" or "Linus Torvalds" or "Bill Joy" not your everyday web developer.

I’m not a programmer by any means, I’m a math major actually, but I work with a lot of web programmers .

I won’t disagree with you. I’m rather fond of the term "code whisperer" or something like that.

On my YouTube Channel http://www.Yoututbe.com/primeconcepts I (Ford Saeks) have several short video clips related to Effective Web Design and Internet Marketing. This video continues the secrets of creating your Online Cash Machine a.k.a. your website.

Secret # 7: Keep the Graphic Designer and Web Programmers in Check.

Your web designer shouldnt be in control of the marketing process and you should identify your specific outcome for each area and page of your website.

Remember that you’re the marketer You need to control the sales processes. Don’t lose navigation ease for special effects. Please avoid a circus look with too many fonts, sizes and colors. Remember to construct the site with clear and redundant navigation. That means adding the main navigations choices to the top and bottom of the page.

Add a site map for the search engines and visitors. A site map is a directory listing of your pages listed on a pages for easy access. Make sure your web designer checks the visual layout and menus on a PC / MAC with different browsers. Check your site in internet explorer, Firefox and Safari. Also, some new java-type menu programs work great on one type and are all messed up on a different type of browser.

Before you hire any web design firm, or other vendor for that matter do you do diligence and check out their references. Review samples of their work too! If you dont see clear marketing messages and actions steps Find someone else.

Secret # 8: Use your Stats! Set up your tracking methods and calculate your visitor value?

This is also know as Value-Per-Visitor (VPV) Take your sales Sales $ dollars for a given period, usually a month and then divide by the number of visitors to your site = VPV (Example: $1000 / 5000 = .20)

How much is each one of your site visitors worth? This will also help you determine how much you can spend in PPC too. Not to oversimplify, but if youre visitor value is only .30 cents, then you wouldnt want to bid higher than that or you’d be losing money.

For most of you watching, the point is for you to identify and calculate your sites performance benchmarks. Do you know how many people visit your site? What is your average conversion rate? Are people joining or unsubscribing from your lists. How long are they staying on your site? You can learn a great deal from your site because it tracks everything. Check your site statistics Ask your webmaster. This helps you identify areas for improvement on your site so you can turn more clicks into customers.

Use Google Analytics Its free and quite powerful. It tells you everything you want to know about how your visitors found you and how they interact with your site. The new Google Analytics makes it easy to improve your results online too. Write better ads, strengthen your marketing initiatives, and create higher-converting websites. And the best part is that its free!

I have an amazing plan that I need a pretty complex web site designed for. There are no other sites out there like this. I am cash short right now and I am looking for someone who will do all the design and programming work for a piece of the company. Are there places to find this type of person?

I’m no expert in web development but I can certainly help if you need html/xhtml/dhtml, css, JavaScript, c#, Java, or VB.Net skills, Object-Oriented knowledge. As well as SQL skills, Entity Relationship Modeling for database , for example. You might not get one person, but you can get several that compliment each others skill and knowledge sets in an opensource development model type way.

I recommend a ftp code resource repository via sftp for the project, and I guess you would be the project manager. A single project members email for all project communication.

So before anything, website needs are technically and financially.

1. Platform – Is it going to be build on Linux, or Windows etc.?
2. HTTP servers – IIS (windows only), Apache (any), etc…>
3. Database- Ms Sequel (windows only), MySQL(cross platform)etc..?
4. Web development environment- Visual Studio (windows only), MonoDevelop, etc.. ?
5. File sharing – Filezilla
Some this depends on what type of website you are going for.

Decide what the Client side needs are, the back end technology available, and the development platform will be.

i have been working as a web programmer for 2 years. is there any good scope on this field. is there any vacancy in big companies. becoz i have been working in a small company and my salary range is very low.

You should definitely search actively for something else if you feel THAT miserable.

I’ve been working in an internship as website developper/programmer, I was paid a month of "holidays",…

During that time I met web programmers from other countries like the Netherlands who work as an agency so they’ll get more customers. The price they asked for programming/develpping was outrageous….but they have lots of projects. so yeah, maybe you can look for web service agencies

That’s my opinion but web programmer is not actually my main job, I had to read tons of tutorials in order to accept that work. Thus, of course some extra competence will provide you more choices !

I have dreamweaver installed… but that does me no good when it comes to this. I basically am looking for a program that lets me preview my PHP files without having to publish them.

Preferably free.

Yeah…download software called WAMP. It’s great for a testing environment on your PC.

With my Software you can simply drag and drop source and destination folders/files and keep for example your changelog or self programmed admin area(like me) or newest wordpress version(as hoster) for all sites(even online through ftp) always equal. Everything with less than 5 clicks! I searched for such a software for a long time but then i decided to build it by myself.

It does: rekursively scan your sources and either copy the whole folder or it’s content to multiple ftp accounts!

You can: save profiles, remove entries, just copy locally, edit the extremely simply held source and destination paths with notepad and more follows(still in developement).

If anyone would have interest, leave a comment please! If I give it away someday it won’t be freeware must be said… If anyone knows a similar programm i would also like to know it too.
